Course Overview
The BMed Global Psychedelic Assisted Therapy Training is a comprehensive and forward-thinking program designed for medical professionals, including doctors, psychologists, and certified therapists, who seek to integrate psychedelic-assisted therapies into their practice. Scheduled to commence in April 2024, this bilingual (Spanish and English) course offers a rich blend of online and presential learning over two years.
The curriculum, spanning 576 hours, delves into the intersection of ancestral knowledge and cutting-edge clinical research, positioning psychedelic medicines as a revolutionary tool for contemporary mental health challenges. Participants will gain a deep understanding of the clinical and cross-cultural foundations of psychedelic use, develop specialized skills to guide altered states of consciousness, and explore humanistic and transpersonal psychology's integration into psychedelic therapy. Fundamental aspects of neuroscience, neuropharmacology, and psychopharmacology related to psychedelic medicines are also covered, alongside practical techniques for preparation, experience, and integration of psychedelic therapy.
The training is unique in its emphasis on the personal transformation of future therapists and researchers. It includes 16 online modules on essential theory, live and recorded classes, and in-depth material. The program features four experiential residential modules, where participants will engage in group and individual therapeutic dynamics, fostering personal growth and professional competence. A highlight of the course is a 20-day expedition trip to the Amazon, providing firsthand exposure to indigenous ancestral cultures and traditions, deepening understanding of transpersonal psychology and plant-based ceremonies (not covered in the tuition price). This comprehensive approach ensures that participants not only acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills but also undergo a profound personal journey, essential for offering holistic and effective psychedelic-assisted therapy.
