The Certificate in Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies (CPAT) by Mind Medicine Australia (MMA) is designed to meet the growing demand for trained therapists to provide regulatory-approved and research-backed psychedelic-assisted therapies for mental ill-health treatment in Australia. The course also prepares clinicians to work in research trials as they expand within the country.
Following world best practices, the CPAT is developed based on protocols from MAPS and the REBUS model by Imperial College London. The course aims to equip therapists with state change and stage change theory and technique, provide a theory of mind perspective, train therapists for future demands, help with the mental health crisis, contribute to changing attitudes and supporting legal changes, establish standards for safe and ethical practice, and bring together medical approaches with good psychotherapy standards and transpersonal aspects.
The CPAT program was developed through collaboration with experienced psychotherapists and incorporated live lectures, webcasts, self-study, and experiential workshops led by a skilled teaching team. The course respects the local context within Australia, making it the first program of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.
