CU Denver’s Certificate in Medical Spanish trains students and working health care providers to communicate more effectively with Spanish-speaking patients. The program was developed to address language gaps in health care and to support clearer understanding of symptoms, medications, and treatment decisions. The curriculum goes beyond vocabulary and phrases to include cultural nuances and the role of context in how patients describe health concerns and engage with care providers. It is intended for current CU Denver students as well as working professionals. Courses are offered asynchronously and can be completed in as little as one year.
