Course Overview
Psychedelic Integration: Premise & Promise is a foundational course offered by Fluence, designed for clinicians and healthcare providers interested in learning about Psychedelic Harm Reduction and Integration in clinical practice.
The course is led by Chantelle Thomas, PhD and has a class capacity of 8 students (each month). The hybrid format includes self-paced learning materials and three weekly live-online meetings with trainers for discussion, role-plays, case discussions, and Q&A. The course covers a wide range of topics, including the history of psychedelic compounds, current research and clinical trials, ethical and legal issues, and how to work with patients who are considering using psychedelics or have a history of using them. The course is also available in a self-paced format.
At the end of the course, participants will have a conceptual and practical understanding of how to engage clients in discussions about psychedelics and how to provide basic/initial assessments of clients who report psychedelic use. They will also be able to discuss the state of psychedelic clinical research and understand the key theoretical approaches to psychedelic-assisted therapy.
The course focuses on translating research findings into clinical practice and covers assessment and integration techniques, as well as the therapist's role in the integration psychotherapy process. By the end of the course, participants will be able to articulate why MDMA-assisted therapy is thought to be a good fit for the treatment of PTSD, explain the current models of MDMA-assisted therapy, and identify indications for which psilocybin-assisted therapy has been researched in modern clinical trials.
The live (hybrid) version of this course is given each month.
