Psychedelic Substances Research Group
Data updated
The Psychedelic Substances Research Group is based at Charite Universitatsmedizin Berlin, within its department of psychiatry and psychotherapy, and is led by the psychiatrist Tomislav Majic. Its work is unusually broad, running from the molecular pharmacology of psychedelics through to their ethical, legal and social implications. The group leads PsychedELSI, a project examining the ethical, legal and social aspects of the psychedelic renaissance, and the APaPS study of persistent perceptual and psychological effects following psychedelic or entactogen use, an area that receives less attention than acute therapeutic benefit. Harm reduction and the study of adverse or lasting effects sit alongside investigation of therapeutic applications, giving the group a distinctly cautious, public-health-minded profile.
