Academic teacher training programmes

VU Amsterdam's academic teacher training programmes are only available in Dutch and are designed for students who want to teach in secondary education in the Netherlands. The programmes lead to first- or second-degree teaching qualifications, depending on the route chosen. Options include an education minor for current bachelor's students, a five-month education module for students who have nearly completed their academic bachelor's degree, and several two-year master's programmes in different subject areas. The programmes combine subject-specific study with teacher training and classroom practice. The university requires professional-level Dutch language proficiency (NT2-programma II) and residence in the Netherlands during the programme so students can attend lectures and practice at Dutch secondary schools.
