Course Overview
Foundations of Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy (PAT) is a 13-week course that provides an in-depth understanding of the foundations, origins, legacy, and contemporary uses of psychedelics. The course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to navigate the complexities of power, responsibility, and empowerment within the therapeutic alliance, as well as understand the research around psychedelics and its limitations.
The course covers various topics, including relational ethics, creating a safe container, self-reflection, self-regulation, and the influence of set and setting on the therapeutic alliance. It also covers how to navigate common and unexpected transference and countertransference in non-ordinary states, and how to provide culturally-responsive care and practice from a decolonizing perspective.
The course includes a somatic and trauma-informed approach and provides a toolkit of resources to incorporate into practice. The course is facilitated by trainers from Beckley Academy, who have deep expertise in online education, behavioural health training, mental health, and psychedelic research.
The course is intended for licensed mental health professionals, mental health professionals on a licensing path, and allied mental health professionals. Scholarships are available for those who need financial assistance.
