M.A.-C.P. in Drama Therapy

CIIS’s M.A.-C.P. in Drama Therapy is an in-person, Board of Behavioral Sciences-approved graduate program that integrates counseling psychology with the systemic use of drama and theater techniques. The program is designed to build knowledge of drama therapy theory, process, and technique, along with psychological theory, ethics, and social justice perspectives. The curriculum combines experiential coursework, fieldwork, and clinical practicum. Students complete a first year focused on foundations and pre-practicum fieldwork, followed by continued clinical training, an integrative seminar, and a capstone project in the second year, with the program extending to a third year if needed. Graduates may pursue careers in clinical and nonclinical settings, including community mental health, private practice, schools, correctional facilities, corporations, higher education, and theaters or performing arts organizations. The program is approved by the North American Drama Therapy Association and graduates are eligible to pursue RDT credentialing and LMFT licensure.
