Course Overview
The M.A.-C.P. in Expressive Arts Therapy is a BBS-approved graduate degree in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in expressive arts therapy. The program uses an online hybrid format and integrates visual and digital arts, music, dance and movement, poetry, spoken word, and drama across the curriculum. The program emphasizes the Scholar-Artist-Practitioner model, combining academic study, clinical practice, and community engagement. It is designed to support work with individuals, groups, couples, and families, and to prepare students for practice in settings such as schools, mental health organizations, hospitals, residential treatment programs, consulting, coaching, and private practice. Coursework includes experiential learning, arts-based seminars, and supervised practicum experience. Students complete a year-long practicum in the third year and are expected to attend in-person one-week intensives at the start of each fall and spring semester in the San Francisco Bay Area.
