The Center for Psychedelic Medicine at NYU Langone Health is directed by Dr. Michael Bogenschutz and performs health-focused research across the translational spectrum, from basic science to large-phase clinical trials. The center has three transdisciplinary areas of focus: psychiatry, medicine, and preclinical research. Currently, the team is actively investigating clinical applications for various psychedelic compounds, leading robust studies on psilocybin-assisted therapy for alcohol use disorder, major depression, and advanced cancer-related psychiatric distress.

Blossom’s read

NYU’s psychedelic training offer sits firmly in the academic, clinician-facing end of the field rather than the consumer retreat world. It is best known for rigorous research and CME-level education under NYU Langone’s Center for Psychedelic Medicine, with Michael P. Bogenschutz and colleagues central to the programme’s identity. The strongest fit is for psychiatrists, psychologists, researchers, and advanced trainees who want evidence-led grounding in psychedelic-assisted care and the surrounding science.

Who is New York University for?

Best for licensed clinicians, psychologists, and researchers who want academically grounded psychedelic education. It also suits medical students, psychiatry residents, and postdoctoral fellows already within NYU’s training ecosystem.

What do you need before you start?

The research training pathway is aimed at junior faculty members, postdoctoral fellows, and, within NYU, current medical students and psychiatry residents. The CME offering is for physicians and psychologists; the research training programme’s postdoctoral opportunities are typically for people with an MD, PhD, or MD/PhD.

Is New York University accredited?

NYU Grossman School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide CME for physicians. NYU Langone Health and NYU Grossman School of Medicine are also approved providers of continuing education for licensed psychologists in New York State, under provider number PSY-0085.

How much does it cost?

NYU does not publish a single programme price for the psychedelic training pathway. The research training programme is funded, including pilot funding for promising investigators, while the CME courses are separately ticketed professional education events.

What do you walk away with?

Learners walk away with evidence-based knowledge of psychedelic science, clinical trials, safety, methodology, and policy. For researchers, the programme is designed to build independent investigators; for clinicians, it provides CME/CE-backed professional development rather than a standalone certification.
