This double-blind placebo-controlled pilot study (n=20) conducted by the University of California, San Diego aims to investigate the safety and efficacy of psilocybin (25mg) in treating chronic phantom limb pain (PLP).

Double-blind, randomised, parallel-group pilot (n=20) testing a single 25 mg oral psilocybin dose versus 100 mg niacin in people with chronic phantom limb pain; outcomes include pain measures and behavioural and neural responses assessed with psychophysics and fMRI.

Primary aims are safety and reduction in pain scores; secondary assessments include mood, attitudes, and neural correlates of pain with close medical and psychological follow-up in a supportive setting.
